Gr. 10 Dance Majors Reflection – Dance Intensive
Due Date: Tues. January 16th, 2018
- A) REFLECTION: Make connections that can be made from the study of Dunham technique and West African dance to your current studies in ballet, modern and choreography and contemporary life.
B) Explain with examples from exercises in the centre, barre, across the floor to integration of mindfulness, breath and imagery and wise words from your guest artist/instructors.
C) Your first draft may be hand written into your modern notebook. Your final reflection/writing will be submitted: typed, 12 pt font. Your writing will contain: introductory paragraph, and the body of the work will contain at least three examples with a final paragraph for your conclusion.
D) At the end of your work you will include a Bibliography/Works Cited list of sources that were useful in your reflection.
2. COLLAGE: Oxford Dictionary definition: “A piece of art made by sticking various different materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric on to a backing.” TASK: Design, create a collage of images that resonate for you that acknowledges your guest artists in Dunham technique and West African dance forms for example – your guest dance artists and their teacher and/or cultural influence, for example, from early dance forms: “Domba” – celebration dance, kente cloth or musical instruments. Be creative and have fun with your collage.
