On Wednesday October 31st, the EHSS Library Learning Commons along with students in the ESL program welcomed Laura Freeman, Toronto Public High School Outreach Librarian to Earl Haig SS.
Our English Language Learners were able to test out the following:
Mango – a resources that helps improve English Skills or learn a new language. This program can also be downloaded to your smart phone – allowing you to improve English on the go!
Tense Buster – a program that provides lessons and practices test geared toward improving English Grammar (beginner to advanced levels and ESL included).
Students were given the opportunity to explore the New to Canada page which included resources to assist citizens new to Canada.
In addition to the above, TPL also offers a page on Homework Help. This includes Brainfuse – live tutoring available to students. Online tutors are hired experts (often teachers and/or with a university degree) available from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Brainfuse also offers a writing lab feature which gives students access to experts online for writing assistance (for constructive feedback, they require work to be sent 3 days in advance).
A special thank you to Laura from the Toronto Public Library for sharing this wealth of information.
